Maximising product and material value through the circular economy in high integrity sectors
The ReMake Value Retention Centre (RVRC) is pioneering a cross-sector, systems-level approach to circularity in high-integrity sectors such as transport and energy.
We’re tackling the urgent challenge of maximising product life, to drive resilience, growth and the UK's green economy.
The ReMake Value Retention Centre (RVRC) is a Green Economy Centre funded by UKRI. It’s led by the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) and University of Strathclyde, in partnership with the University of Exeter and the University of Sheffield. It aims to create new economic value, reduce waste and emissions, build material resilience across nationally important sectors, and accelerate the transition to net zero while delivering substantial economic impact for the UK.
RVRC extends the life of high-value assets through remanufacturing, refurbishment, and high-value recycling, preserving embedded energy, critical materials, and essential resources.
Led by an interdisciplinary team, RVRC delivers research-driven solutions to accelerate circular economy adoption across high-integrity transport, energy, and industrial sectors.
RVRC strengthens material resilience, reduces dependence on global supply chains, and develops the skills base needed for sustainable, circular industrial growth.
The Centre embeds circular design principles and develops new business models to maximise reuse, remanufacturing, and economic value in high-integrity infrastructure.
By advancing value retention practices across high-integrity sectors, RVRC cuts emissions, minimises waste, and supports the transition to a low-carbon, circular industrial economy.
